Producing a whopping 14lbs of drag out of the box, the Terrapin is ready to take on anything from Trout to Tuna! That’s more than three times the power of reels that cost three times as much! These fly reels were designed for a serious fight.
All the reels in the Terrapin series are machined from 6061 T-6 bar stock aluminum and are type II double anodized for maximum durability. The drag surface of the Terrapin is made up of stacked Rulon discs, a material rather new to the fly reel industry that has unbelievable tolerances. Rulon is rated for CONSTANT operating temperature ranging from –400*F to 550*F and has zero water absorption! Rulon is by far a better drag surface choice over carbon fiber and cork. The drag system housing itself acts as the spindle for the reel making it incredibly strong under severe stress. This system is also completely maintenance free! The drag is activated by an oversized clutch bearing which in its water tight housing is extremely reliable. This engagement system is impervious to extreme cold and extreme heat. No “Free Spooling” to worry about on this reel.

I have been wearing Simms Contender bibs for over 5 years now on the water. Whenever its rainy or cold these have been a game changer. The Gore Tex material dry and breathable. They are tough enough to withstand the salt water environment and hold up to rubbing and kneeling on the gunnels and the deck. The zippers have not shown any sign of corrosion. They are light and comfy, always keeping me warm but never hot. I love the fit, not huge like some brands that are big and stiff. I highly recommend the Simms Contender Bibs!

Simms Contender Gore-Tex Bibs
Belts are a must if you wanna always have your pliers at waist side. Always ready to cut a tag end or release a fish safely. I've been wearing arcade belts on and off the water. They are the most comfortable belts due to the little bit of stretch in the material. The drake model has a cool mayfly logo. Easy on and off with the click type buckle. I have also used these as a wading belt and they worked out excellent.
